What is Venetian Plastering?
Genuine
Venetian plaster is a complete plaster product that is done with an ancient
technique that burnishes in your choice of color combinations and remains very
smooth.
After that, it is finished with a protective coating. You can have a wall that
is finished
subtly, very bold or somewhere in between. The imitators of genuine Venetian
are
polished textures and are not the ancient technique done for thousands of years.

History of Kasten Plastering
Plastering
has been in the Kasten family for many generations beginning even
before my great grandfather in the Netherlands. The trade was brought to the
United States by my grandfather and taught to my dad, uncle and cousins. My
father taught it to me and I completed my apprenticeship in 1957. He taught
me
conventional plastering as well as specialty plastering such as moldings, textures
and the genuine Venetian style.
Spence has
been involved full time in plastering for 11 years and has had
experience in every type of plastering. It has been great to have this father/son
experience like I had with my dad, uncle and cousins.
We have
enjoyed working on many homes in our community as well as
restoration work on older homes and historic places such as the Cappon
House in Holland and the Felt Mansion in Laketown Township.
